Are hydrides under high pressure high temperature superconductors?

Abstract Contrary to the current consensus, I argue that existing evidence for high temperature superconductivity in hydrides under pressure is not compelling. suggest focus of field should urgently shift establish unequivocally experimentally whether or pressurized exists, instead continuing search new materials might show elusive signals unproven at ever higher temperatures. The implications a negative finding theoretical understanding are discussed.
